LWOW Sprint 2026: Eat & Drink in Carcavelos
Carcavelos is a fantastic place to experience the flavors of coastal Portugal—from fresh seafood and traditional petiscos to modern Mediterranean and vibrant beach cafés. You can sample classics like arroz de marisco (seafood rice at A Pastorinha) or polvo à lagareiro (grilled octopus with olive oil at La Plage). Being steps from the ocean means there’s always great fish—but really, there’s more than just seafood.
Where to Eat Near the Hotels The map below highlights restaurants immediately near the Carcavelos Beach Hotel and the Riviera Hotel, where the LWOW community is recommended to stay. These hotels are less than a five-minute walk apart, with a central plaza offering multiple dining options. This list is not exhaustive—Carcavelos offers many other restaurants throughout town, with something for everyone.

Eating Out in Carcavelos: Things to Know
Meal Times: Local patrons eat around 7:30-8:30pm and peak dining is often between 8:30-10:00pm (exceptions exist—check dates/times before you reserve). On Sundays, closing hours tend to be earlier.
Reservations recommended for dinner on March weekends (as seasonal visits start up).
Vegetarian options available at many spots, although check for dedicacted vegan options.

NOVA Business School Campus Options:
Azure Restaurant Azure is the Carcavelos Campus restaurant. This beautiful Italian name means "celestial blue," and it pays homage to the Carcavelos beach and its predominantly Italian menu. The goal was to create the ideal space to welcome the Nova SBE community (students, faculty, and staff members) and, simultaneously, the Carcavelos neighbors to enjoy a savory meal while contemplating the sea.
