Applications are now closed for Sprint 2025.
How to Apply: Follow the instructions + steps below for a successful application.
STEP 1: make sure you are eligible to apply!
LawWithoutWalls is open to any eligible applicants currently enrolled in OR recent grads of a law or business program!
However, before you apply, check to see if your school is a current participating school in LWOW. If so, your school may have their own internal process/requirements for LWOW applications.
For non-Miami Law students, if accepted to LWOW, there will be an administration fee for participation in LawWithoutWalls Sprint 2025 of $800USD (not including costs to travel) payable to the University of Miami School of Law upon acceptance. MiamiLaw students, please email lawwithoutwalls@lwow.org for more information on fees and costs covered.
STEP 2: get to know LWOW. Do the research.
Before applying to LWOW, read all the information available about LWOW on our website and also review the FAQ (frequently asked questions). Click here to watch a pre-recorded presentation on Sprint 2025 or better yet, register to attend live virtual info sessions with Q&A with the LWOW Program Director.
This year we are offering one in-person program—The LWOW Sprint—to be held over 3 full days, 14—16 March, hosted by the University of Buckingham Law School in Buckingham, United Kingdom (1.5 to 2 hours from London).
STEP 3: create your Interview Video (no more than 3 minutes in length/examples of good interview videos techniques here).
Create an Interview Video. The Interview Video is a 2 to 3 minutes video (created via phone, tablet, computer, camera, or animated tools that should demonstrate to LWOW how you stand out from other applicants by answering the following questions very succinctly, but also with creativity! Be an original—include real examples of problem solving, leadership, and creativity in your answers to our questions. Have fun SHOWING us who you are and what your values are.
INTERVIEW VIDEO QUESTIONS: PLEASE ANSWER ALL OF THE FOLLOWING FOUR QUESTIONS.
Tell us briefly about yourself. Name, role, school or organization.
Why would you be a good fit for LawWithoutWalls and why should you be selected to participate in Sprint 2025? (Be sure consider what the LawWithoutWalls community is all about before you answer this question e.g., do your research).
Share an example of a time when you identified a real problem and creatively solved it e.g., How did the problem come about and what steps did you take to resolve it? What was the outcome?
In 15 seconds or less, what three skills would you bring to LawWithoutWalls and what three skills you hope to gain from LawWithoutWalls?
INTERVIEW VIDEO REQUIREMENTS: Please note creativity does not necessarily mean you need to have any specialized video editing skills, but we do have requirements for the Interview Video:
The applicant should narrate and star in the video. We prefer to see you (not your avatar!) and hear you so also please make sure your video is clear (e.g., do not record in a closet) and sound is audible.
If you are creating a video using a phone or tablet, please record in LANDSCAPE mode! (IMPORTANT: This means your screen should be held horizontally, e.g, In this direction — . NOT this way |. )
YES, you can use props and music to tell your story! Interview Videos may be a mix of video clips, still photos, and animated media; however, it must be one cohesive video file.
Create an URL to your Interview Video (please upload your Interview Video to a video hosting platform e.g., Vimeo or YouTube) and submit the URL in your application form (be sure to test the video to see if it works before submitting your application).
IMPORTANT: Videos cannot exceed over 3 minutes—we will not look at it if it does.
CLICK HERE FOR A YOUTUBE PLAYLIST OF EXAMPLES OF PERSONAL PITCHES (although different from Interview Videos, these Personal Pitches displays the quality of our competitive applicant pool and the creativity of their video submissions).
STEP 4: fill out the online application form
A. Complete the online application form here. It asks for information typically available on a CV, contact information, a link to your Interview Video, LinkedIn profile, and a short response (500 words or less) to a substantive question of your choice.
B. Get a recommendation/have a recommendor fill out the form here (students should send the link). Ask a current or past academic or professional supervisor (e.g., a professor who supervises the student’s work as a research assistant, a thesis supervisor, a work manager, recent boss, etc.) to complete the applicant recommendation on your behalf (copy and forward the link of the recommendation form to recommender).
Your application to LWOW will not be considered unless the online Application, Applicant Recommendation, and the Interview Video are received and complete.
